Hollis Halford created The Halford Company in 1994. In addition to being an avid supporter of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, Hollis had earned a reputation as one of the best recording engineers in Nashville. One of his more noteworthy efforts was engineering "Classics by Request", a series of classical music compact discs produced by Paul Whitehead of Iliad Productions for Victoria's Secret. Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, this series of compact discs is the most successful program of its kind, selling in excess of 15 million units over a ten-year period.

Hollis started the company on some simple premises:

Create custom music products that do not look like typical premiums.

Draw from the best classical and holiday music recordings available.

Develop a pricing structure and approach to customization that makes the purchase of custom music CDs an extraordinary value for small companies.

Nurture a working environment that delivers exceptional customer service based upon the golden rule, to treat customers as we would expect to be treated.
