Hollis Halford created The Halford Company in 1994. In addition to being an avid supporter of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, Hollis had earned a reputation as one of the best recording engineers in Nashville. One of his more noteworthy efforts was engineering "Classics by Request", a series of classical music compact discs produced by Paul Whitehead of Iliad Productions for Victoria's Secret. Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, this series of compact discs is the most successful program of its kind, selling in excess of 15 million units over a ten-year period. Hollis started the company on some simple premises:
